How it works
A live, online escape room you play with friends from anywhere — no downloads, no accounts. One person buys, everyone else joins free with a code. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.
Pick a room & buy
Choose your adventure and check out securely. Your private room code and host link are emailed to you instantly — one price covers your whole group.
Invite your team
Share the code. Friends join free from any device — anything from one player to a full party. No accounts to create, nothing to install.
Escape together
Pick your roles, start the clock, and solve the chain of puzzles before time runs out. Talk it out, share what only you can see, and break out together.
The secret ingredient: you each see something different
Every player is dealt their own private clues. Alone, each one is a dead end — but put them together and the puzzles unlock. It's a game you literally can't win without talking to each other, so nobody drifts off onto their phone. Everyone leans in, everyone matters.

Frequently asked questions
How do remote players communicate?
Every game has a built-in live text chat, so you can talk to your team right inside the room — no extra setup. Lots of groups also hop on a voice or video call (FaceTime, Zoom, Discord, or a plain phone call) for extra fun, but that's entirely optional. The chat alone is enough to play and win.
How long does it take, and what's the "two-hour window"?
The escape is designed as a ~60-minute challenge — that's the recommended clock and the time to beat. Your room stays live for a full two-hour session, though, so there's no rush to start on the dot: gather everyone, read the briefing, and even take a short break (your host can pause the clock).
When your host opens the room, they can set the on-screen timer anywhere from 30 up to 120 minutes. Left alone, the room closes on its own after two hours.
Is this self-guided or live-hosted?
It's self-guided — there's no live actor or staff member running your session. One person in your group (the buyer) is the "host" and gets simple controls to start the game, reveal hints, and pause. Everything else is automated, so you play whenever suits you.
Do we need Zoom or another call?
No. The built-in chat is all you need. If your group is spread out and you'd like to hear each other, a voice or video call adds to the fun — but it's your choice, never a requirement.
Does everyone need a separate device?
It works best with one screen per player, because each player sees different, private clues. That said, you can share — two people can huddle around one laptop or phone and play as a team. You just need enough screens that each role can see its own clues.
Can we play in the same room?
Absolutely. Sit around the same table, each on your own phone or laptop, and talk it out face-to-face — it makes a fantastic in-person game night. You can even split a bigger group into teams sharing screens.
Can we play remotely?
Yes — that's the whole idea. Everyone joins from wherever they are on their own device. Share the room code, use the built-in chat (and a call if you like), and escape together from different cities or even different countries.
Is anything printed?
No printing, no downloads, no prep. Everything happens on screen in your browser — just open the link and play.
Is sound required?
No. Sound is completely optional and off by default — the whole game is fully playable in silence. If you'd like a little atmosphere, any player can switch on the built-in sound effects from the in-game menu.
What happens if someone disconnects?
Nothing is lost. Your progress lives on our server, not on anyone's device. If someone drops off, they simply reopen the same link (or re-enter the room code) to rejoin exactly where the team left off. The host can pause the clock while everyone regroups.
Are hints included?
Yes — every puzzle has built-in hints, and they're free. Hints come in gentle tiers, from a light nudge up to the full answer, so you only reveal as much as you need. The only catch: each hint adds a little time to your clock, so save them for when you're truly stuck.
Can we pause or restart?
Yes to both. The host can pause the clock at any time — handy for snack runs or latecomers. And you can restart from the beginning as long as your team hasn't escaped yet. Once you successfully complete the escape, that playthrough is finished (see the next question).
Why is the game one playthrough?
Half the magic is discovering the puzzles for the first time — once you know the solutions, the surprise is gone. So each purchase is one full escape for your whole group at a single price (not per person), which keeps it affordable for everyone. Want to play again? Each of our rooms is a brand-new adventure.
How do groups larger than four work?
Each room has four clue roles, and the game is best with 2–8 players. With five to eight, you simply double up — two people share a role and tackle its clues together, which makes for lively teamwork. Planning a bigger event? Email us at support@frenikadevon.com and we'll help you set it up.
